Yes I'm 40...And I don't Care!

Yes, I recently turned 40. I’ve been around four entire decades! I guess when you turn 40 you’re supposed to get upset and go crazy. At least that’s what people seem to expect me to do. Friends and family ask me how I feel, what’s it like being the big four-oh and on and on and on! It would seem I’m supposed to be upset that I’m 40 years old. The only problem is I’m not upset in the least!
When I was a kid I had certain age goals I wanted to reach. The first one was 10 (double digits). The next was 13 (teenager) then 16 (driver’s license) then 18 (legal adult) and finally 21 (legal drinking age). After that, most people quit looking forward to any other ages. I also quit looking ahead for a long time. But the older I get, I’ve found I don’t mind aging. Since I was a child I’ve believed I would live a very long time, well into my late nineties or early one hundreds, perhaps even longer with medical technology as it is. I don’t know where I got the idea, but I’ve always felt that way and believed it. Only time will tell.
The best advice I can give is to embrace your birthdays and enjoy them. Be thankful for the gift of life and instead of worrying about living….just live!

My kids thought it was a riot. I told them when they are 60 they can also do whatever they want! Happy Birthday, and you are right- We must enjoy everyday we have on this planet. Take care. Thanks for the comments, James. I never thought of getting my ear peirced, but it's something to think about. Maybe that or a tattoo or both! On second thought, I'll just leave things as they are. (smile) Maybe when I'm 60! Have a great day, James!
