You Can Never Outrun Change!
The ability to adapt to changes in one’s life is what makes the human species so great. I think the majority of people detest change, myself included. I tend to be a creature of habit, my routines as familiar to me as a lover’s embrace. But change is inevitable and it comes in a variety of ways. Some changes are quick. I remember a time when my boys looked up to me and thought I was the greatest Dad ever. They marveled at my abundant knowledge and were impressed by my feats of strength as I lifted a push lawn mower into the bed of my truck to work on it or would twist the cap off of a jar of dill pickles with virtually no effort whatsoever. On October 30, 2006 I got that call every parent dreads. My oldest son, Jimmy, had called me when school let out that he was not riding the bus home and had a ride home with his friend, Kara.
